Should dangerous tackles (whether intentional or not) be punished retrospectively like dives? In this episode Straight Shootin' LJA discusses the issue of bad tackles in the Premier League with special focus on Jordan Pickford and his awful tackle on Virgil Van Dijk that left the Liverpool defender with a season threatening ACL injury. SSLJA looks at the issue of reckless tackles (giving a few examples) and player safety from a players perspective (drawing upon his own experience in the amateur leagues) and how a bad tackle (whether intentional or not) can very easily end a career, let alone a season and more should be done to punish offenders to help eradicate it from football.
