In this episode Straight Shootin' LJA discusses the recent collapse of the proposed midweek European Super League and looks at whether or not fans were the main reason behind the Premier League clubs pulling out, or sponsor pressure made the owners u-turn?
SSLJA looks at the potential of a breakaway Super League in the near future and the damage that has been done to the reputations of the clubs by the owners who tried to breakaway, not just in the eyes of the other Premier League clubs, but the fans and if that trust can be repaired.
SSLJA discusses UEFA, the Premier League and English FA reactions and if the fact that the potential of these entities losing out financially, made them sit up, take notice and be ultra swift in their responses, when with other issues (such as racism) they seem to drag their heels and take their time with the imposed sanctions often being borderline pointless and he looks at the UK Government's reaction with Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden pledging to launch a report into football governance.
SSLJA also looks at Jose Mourinho's sacking that happened during this and the impossible position managers, coaches and players were put in, considering they had no knowledge of what the owners were attempting to do, in what looks like a purely greed motivated money and power grab.
