Does AFCON deserve more respect from pundits, English media & managers? Are FIFA being greedy with proposals for a World Cup every 2 years?
On this episode of The Staight Shootin' View, SSLJA discusses the proposals for a biennial FIFA World Cup and also how AFCON is percieved by managers, pundits & the English media.
SSLJA looks at whether or not a FIFA world cup every 2 years is even feasible, let alone sensible considering the already packed fixture schedule, plus the knock on effect of of biennial world cup, such as the european championships having to move every 2 years as well.
SSLJA also gives his view on the blatant disrespect of the AFCON tournament, which has helped produce and nurture a lot world class footballing talent, but doesn't get the respect it deserves in part because of where it falls in the football schedule, but also because of a racial component, as Africa to some, is seen almost as a feeder nation.
