In this episode Straight Shootin' LJA discusses the recent protests at Old Trafford by some Manchester United fans about the Glazer family ownership of the club, that got the Manchester United v Liverpool match postponed until May 13th and also a social media boycott by clubs and other entities that took place on the very same weekend the protests happened.
SSLJA looks at the potential of the protests doing more harm than good due to a minority of fans who broke into Old Trafford, protested outside the team hotels (stopping the teams leaving) and also looks at the double standards from the media and pundits in the way the protests were reported and handled in comparison to the BLM protests a year earlier.
SSLJA discusses the social media boycott that clubs, the Premier League, FA and other entities got involved in from Friday April 30th to May 3rd 2021 and looks at whether or not a 3-4 day social media boycott can actually have any real, lasting impact, along with whether or not the Old Trafford protests took the focus away from the boycott or not and how to protest the right way
